Cats and Dogs

I like this new unofficial once a week format. Here's a heads up to a great webcomic that isn't really new per se, but isn't really well known either (or has a large archive either). Awkward Zombie is yet another gaming comic, but surprise! It's not about a group of young men who live together and are obsessed about video games! It's about a girl obsessed about video games. Or "obsessed" may be a rather strong choice of diction; it's more about the comics themselves which rock. Check her site out!

So I've been pretty lazy getting a portfolio together for a Pixar application, hopefully I'll get a lot done during Spring Break. *crossing fingers* Here's a sample sketch for one of the projects I'm doing.

Gurren Lagann

GURREN LAGANN!!!!!!:

This anime is produced by Gainax, the same people who brought you the crazy mind trip known as Furi Kuri:

Basically it breaks down into two arcs: 1. Overthrow the crazy, tyrannical overlords 2. Something crazy in space

Ok, so I'm not great at selling shows but honestly, this anime kicks major butt. The animation is pretty much top notch (with the exception of a few episodes) and the designs are insanely entertaining. The pace of the show never slows down from the rocket start in episode 1 and they never have those 10 minutes of characters only having their mouths move as they pontificate upon profound and startling philosophies.

For those who dislike waiting between episodes, just know that series is finished after its 26 episode. Watch it. Now.

Sketches for future projects

Here's some sketches of upcoming projects I have in mind. Everything was done digitally; I find it's a lot easier to draw on the computer. I can pull up references, color without a mess, and use the undo option like it's hot.

Changing up the Blog

So I admit I can't update blogs so well. Especially when it comes to creating pieces of art that require intense concentration (haha!). So here are some changes I'll be implementing in order to keep this thing alive:
1. I'll try to make more art
2. I'm changing the template
3. Some posts will also be random stuff about animated shorts/films/shows
4. Awesomeness will occur

So quick post about an animated series by Craig McCracken (the creator of Power Puff Girls and other shows). It's crazy old news and is already heading into its 4th season now but Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends rocks!
All the art is by vectors, which looks pretty hard to do but creates a great effect. Even the concept is amazing! Like where do people come up with ideas about mansions full of imaginary friends?!
I admit I used to watch this show once in a while back when it first came out, but I only got into it this past year. The story lines are actually fairly interesting and it basically tickles all emotions I had as a child watching morning cartoons. Bottom line: if you haven't yet watched Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, do so now!

Kenyon Final Part 5

Here it is! Half-assed and cropped like crazy! Not too happy with the background, but I feel like the project was long overdue to be finished.-Props to Phil!
